Creative stylist at Vintage, Kayleigh Walker, shares this season's top five\r\nhair trends to keep you looking fresh, flirty and fashion-forward.
The Blunt Bob
The blunt bob is everything right now. This timeless, polished style does wonders for your bone structure and is super versatile: style it slick and straight for a more edgy look or loose and textured to give it an air of undone glamour. Use a lightweight volume spray like
Kerasilk Repower Blow Dry Spray by Goldwell on damp hair then blow dry in big sections with a large round brush to smooth. Mist with a protective heat spray like
KMS Hot Flex Spray and either sleek with a flat iron or curl random sections to achieve beachy waves.
Hair Accessories
Consider 2019 the official year of the hair accessory. From the scarf headband to statement clips and barrettes to sparkly slides, there’s something for everyone in this totally accessible trend. For an understated yet punchy look we love a velvet hair bow in classic black to finish the humble ponytail.
Dirty Blonde
Dirty golden blonde is back in town. Highlights are a great way to elevate your hair colour without committing to a whole new shade. Keeping lighter around the face is key and by making it darker at the roots gives increased wearability and a more lived-in look.
Tame the mane
It’s one of the hairdressing industry’s biggest advances in years and it is taking the world by storm.
Olaplex works on EVERYONE, fine hair, thick hair, coloured or not. Originally a three-step system, two in-salon and one at-home, the brand hero recently launched its game-changing #4 shampoo and #5 conditioner. Both contain
Olaplex’s patented bond-building chemistry to strengthen hair and ingredients to hydrate,
boost shine and reduce frizz. It’s easily our favourite ‘mane’ ritual
and word on the street is they’re about to launch #6 Bond Smoother, a totally gorgeous styling crème.
Up your game
The chic alternative to the ponytail, an up-do is the perfect option whether you want to dress up a look or keep it casual. Switching up your parting can create a faux fringe look or make a bold statement with a sleek centre part. Do it yourself: secure pre-curled hair loosely in a low ponytail and ease out some face-framing pieces. Gently twist your pony into a bun and pin as you go, hiding the pins as much as possible. The more the
merrier when pinning so your style stays put all day long. Spritz with a light hold hairspray to finish, teasing out the bun a little to soften, and top it off with your favourite bang-on-trend hair accessory.
