Before moving to Cayman, Poppy Webber lived, worked, and studied between Meribel in the French Alps and Sulawesi in Indonesia. Her travels initially brought her to Cayman for three weeks. That has now turned into eight years. She currently manages design services and operations at LIVING.KY and loves working with clients to create a home that reflects them and the lives they live.
RL: Tell us about your involvement with Living.kyPW: My role has two aspects: I manage the company’s day-to-day operations and work with clients to design their homes and rental properties.
RL: What services do you offer?
PW: We have two aspects to the business. First, we offer a complimentary design service where we work with clients to create furniture packages. Secondly, we have three showrooms with a growing stock section on our website. We have worked hard to increase the amount of stock available on the island since the pandemic and have continued to expand our vast product selection.
RL: How do you begin each project?
PW: This is the fun bit. Clients come to the showroom, we discuss what they want from the space, we work out what style they are looking for and start presenting options. Clients usually provide us with a budget, and we do our very best to work within that. Then we create a presentation for the client.
RL: What items should we splurge on for our homes?
PW: Custom-made upholstered furniture. There is nothing better than a sofa or accent chair made specifically for the client’s lifestyle and space. Custom-made upholstered furniture is no more expensive than buying a regular piece, and the customers are always delighted with the results.
RL: What are some of your favourite projects with Living.ky?
PW: I love working with first time home buyers. It’s so exciting for people to choose their first pieces and work out their style.
RL: What makes a happy home?
PW: I grew up in a home full of paintings, old furniture and travel mementoes handed down from relatives who lived interesting and adventurous lives. It’s really important that a home reflects its owners, their travels, and their history. We love helping clients incorporate these special items in to their home and suggesting beautiful pieces to complement them.
RL: What does the future hold for Living.ky?
PW: It’s a wonderful time to be working in interior design in Cayman. I am proud of the company’s growth over the past few years. I love working with Paul, the owner, and our hard-working team. We will continue to expand and provide good value, stylish, quality products. We are excited to be launching new brands in Cayman in the coming months.
