Typically, when homeowners in Cayman shopped for furniture, accessories and lights, they had to look far and wide. But that was before innovative interiors store Living.ky opened its doors. Founded by Paul Blount, an advocate of fair pricing, Living.ky operates a different model. From wider selections and named brands to lower profit margins and complimentary design services, this fast-growing company is rewriting the rules for consumers and purveyors on island.
Endless Choices
Customers will find everything from sofas and rugs to lighting, fans, artwork and bed linens within the three welcoming showrooms at Pasadora Place – one for general homewares, one for outdoor furniture, and one dedicated to the
Four Hands brand.
Can’t make it into the store, the sophisticated website, (
www.living.ky) allows for easy online ordering.
With a vast network of contacts in the US furniture industry,
Living.ky stocks well over a dozen brands, providing a massive choice of goods, diverse styles and a range of price points. With new shipments arriving weekly, the in-store inventory gets updated consistently, and customers can browse tens of thousands of items online.
The Full Package
For those confronting a renovation project or preparing to fit out a new house (or a single room),
Living.ky’s comprehensive Furniture Package is a turnkey solution that includes everything from interior design assistance to installation.
Furniture packages take the client’s budget as the starting point, and due to
Living.ky’s excellent pricing, proposed packages often come in under budget. Furniture packages are customised
to the client and include:
• Interior Design: Customers are encouraged to first browse in-store and online before sitting down with an interior designer to go over floor plans, Pinterest boards and wish lists to clarify style and functionality. Next, designers put
the products into digital floor plans to help clients visualise the size and scale, and create visual presentations of collections
and options at different price points for the customer.
• Storage: Once chosen,
Living.ky takes care of the ordering, shipping and customs clearance and stores the goods until clients are ready to receive the delivery. If there is a delay in property handover and goods have to be stored longer,
Living.ky does so at no extra cost.
• Delivery and Installation: On handover day, the customer’s order is not only delivered but also unpacked and installed, including furniture placement and hanging artwork, ensuring the property is move-in ready.
The cost?
Living.ky does not charge for any of these services. Customers pay only for the items they purchase.
Transparent pricing
Living.ky know that consumers are likely to price-check online to save and because their prices are fair, they are transparent in their pricing.
Living.ky matches US$ recommended retail prices in CI$.
“Let’s say you see a sofa you like online that retails for US$2000,” owner Paul Blount explains. “By the time you’ve paid for it to be delivered to Miami, paid the US sales tax – which is hard to get back – then shipped it to Cayman, and paid 20-22% import duty, it costs you more like US$3000. With us, it’s CI$2000, including delivery and installation.”
It’s simpler, faster and more economical.
Off island? No problem
For overseas owners who need to prepare a new property for rental,
Living.ky offers the same Furniture Package, the only difference being that meetings take place on Zoom rather than face to face.
Condos can be fully furnished and decorated by
Living.ky and owners can start enjoying the rental income without needing to be on the island at all.
